Have your say: Would France hosting Magic Weekend be a good idea?

Super League chief executive Robert Elstone has revealed that taking Magic Weekend to France is on his radar, and we want to know your thoughts on it.

Next year, Super League’s Magic Weekend will be staged at Anfield – the home of Liverpool FC.

It has been left hosted at Newcastle United’s St James’ Park for the previous four seasons but will move away from the North East after attendances were declining.

Magic Weekend has also enjoyed three years at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, three at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium and two at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield.

In an exclusive interview with the Mirror, Elstone said: “We might go somewhere where we think we can grow the competition, where there are ‘green-shoots’ and the promise of a Super League team in the near future.

“In my opinion, having experienced a great weekend in Perpignan earlier in the year, South-West France could tick this box.”

Catalans Dragons’ Stade Gilbert Brutus would be the obvious venue for hosting a Magic Weekend in the south of France, while there are a couple of other grounds in the area that could be used.

It would be the first time ever that the Magic Weekend has been hosted outside of the UK.

We want to know what you think…
