Hat-trick hero Talanoa hails Hull forwards

Hull FC winger Fetuli Talanoa has praised his team’s forward pack, after he grabbed a hat-trick of tries in an emphatic Magic Weekend win over Hull KR on Saturday.

The Airlie Birds won 46-20, and Talanoa felt that much of the credit should go to the big lads in the middle unit.

“We score tries out wide but it is our engine room that gets us going forward,” he told his club’s official website.

“They are very important for our team and dominated Rovers today.

“It’s an important thing in Super League to be strong up front. Our middle worked really hard to day and made it easier for us out wide.”

Talanoa was also delighted to have scored a senior hat-trick in such a high-profile game.

“It’s always a bonus to get across the try-line but to get three, in a derby, at Magic Weekend is pretty special,” added.

“Scoring a hat-trick is a bonus but overall we are happy to get the two points. To put KR away like that shows our hard work paid off.

“We’ve opened up our attack and going forward is now as good as our defence.”
