Harris praises Kear form

Crusaders coach Iestyn Harris has praised youngster Elliot Kear after he impressed on his first performance for the club in 2011 last weekend.

Kear has spent the opening months season on loan at Championship club Hunslet but was brought back in to the Crusaders side to face Leeds in the Challenge Cup, scoring a try and creating another.

His performance looks to have earned him a place in the squad to face Wakefield at the weekend in what would be his first Super League outing of 2011.

Harris said: “Elliot did very well. He’s been at Hunslet for the past couple of months and they’ve been raving about him. They’ve been desperate to keep him and I have been very impressed with his attitude this season. He has been very patient and he deserves to play at a higher level than Championship One. To be fair, he took his opportunity against Leeds with both hands and his enthusiasm was infectious to everyone in the chaining room before the game.

“His willingness to get the ball in hand and take on the opposition was exceptional and he played extremely well. If you give someone an opportunity and they take it then you can’t take that away from them. He deserves his starting spot on the wing and I hope he can maintain that kind of form.”
