Leroy Cudjoe scored a hat-trick to help Huddersfield maintain their impressive start to the season at the expense of Harlequins.

The Giants looked to have the game sewn up when Horne scored to put his side 30-6 up, but the Londoners showed spirit to strike back before the end with two tries to unsettle their visitors.

A late penalty from Hodgson calmed any nerves though and condemned Harlequins to another defeat, leaving them rooted to the foot of the table.

Despite the appalling conditions a blistering first 10 minutes put Huddersfield fully in control at the start of the contest, both Gilmour and Cudjoe touching down.

Gilmour was first to reach a Kevin Brown dink through before Cudjoe registered his first try of the evening, the kick this time coming from Brett Hodgson.

Another kick gave Cudjoe his second as he latched on to a neat chip in the corner but Chad Randall hit back for Quins just before the break as he forced his way over from dummy half.

Huddersfield started the second half as strongly as the first however and a superb break from Luke Robinson gave Cudjoe his hat-trick.

Crabtree and Horne added further tries for the Giants but Melling gave Harlequins hope when he scored under the posts.

Melling then turned provider as he gave the ball to Tony Clubb for another try but a Huddersfield penalty shunted them three scores ahead and out of reach.
