Championship winners Halifax have retained the services of versatile playmaker Bob Beswick.

Beswick, 26, started his career at Wigan and had a spell at Widnes before moving to The Shay for the 2009 season.

Head Coach Matt Calland said: “Bob is a class player and it is great to have him on board once again. His work rate is superb and has the ability to really tear teams apart. Versatility is key for any winning side and Bob offers us this. I am excited for another great season from him.”

The Ireland international is comfortable at both hooker and loose forward and was a key figure for much of last season, before injury ruled him out of the run in.

Calland added: “I am really happy with the squad we have put together and looking forward to the pre-season friendlies.”
