Halifax have been promoted to the Women’s Championship for the 2020 season.

The Rugby Football League invited the club to join the Championship for this season after they appeared in the Championship One play-offs last term.

Halifax women’s coach, Martina Greenwood, said: “I am so excited with the thought of taking Halifax RLFC women’s team into the Championship for the coming season.

“Having only been in existence for just short of 12 months, this opportunity demonstrates how much hard work, on and off the pitch, does reap the rewards.

“We are under no illusion it will undoubtedly mean hard work ahead of us but we are ready for the challenge. With the support of all the staff at the club we know, as a women’s team, we will all be striving to compete and develop even further this season.

“I am personally looking forward to a new set of challenges and cannot wait for the season to start. Bring on the 2020 Championship season for the Halifax women’s team.”
