Halifax have won the race to secure the services of Ireland international Joe Keyes ahead of the 2022 Championship season.

The 26-year-old has made more than 100 career appearances for London Broncos, Bradford and Hull KR. He has won eight caps for Ireland and played in the 2017 World Cup.

Joe Keyes has joined Halifax on a two-year deal, with the Panthers saying they beat a “number of rival clubs” to secure his signature.

Halifax coach Simon Grix said: “Joe is a quality player with a well rounded skillset, which he has displayed at Championship level in previous years, as well as this season in a short stint with Bradford.

“Opportunities have been limited at Hull KR despite going well when called upon, so Joe has taken control of his own destiny and decided it is time to move on. We couldn’t be happier to welcome him to The Shay and look forward to him complementing our group.”

Keyes said: “I’m really happy to have signed. I’m looking forward to linking up with the lads there and hopefully adding something to a very strong group.”

York have signed half-back Liam Harris from Championship rivals Halifax for the 2022 season.

The 24-year-old returns to the Knights after previously playing for the club in two loan spells from Hull KR and Hull FC, making 36 appearances. Harris joins Jamie Ellis in York’s half-back options for next season.

York coach James Ford said: “Liam is a player I really enjoyed working with previously and I’m confident I’ll enjoy it again. He is an intelligent young man who has yet to play to his full potential.

“He’ll bring a good level of game management, a strong kicking game, and a threat with his pace and distribution skills.”

Harris said: “I can’t wait to get started. It’s somewhere I’ve really enjoyed playing when I’ve been there previously and I’m looking forward to getting started again at the Knights.
