Halifax confirm signing of Nick Rawsthorne from Hull KR

Halifax have signed outside-back Nick Rawsthorne from Hull KR on a one-year deal.

The 25-year-old centre or winger has scored 47 tries in 70 career appearances. Rawsthorne played six games for Hull KR last season.

Rawsthorne returns to hometown club Halifax as a replacement for Shaun Robinson, who has announced his retirement from the game with immediate effect.

Rawsthorne said: “Absolutely buzzing to be back at Halifax, it’s my hometown club and where it all started properly for me.

“We’ve got a really exciting squad for this season and I can’t wait to get stuck in. Thanks to everybody involved for getting me back here.”

Halifax coach Simon Grix said: “I have said previously we are looking for new recruits and waiting patiently for the right ones.

“Shaun hanging up his boots moved us along a little quicker and we are really happy to welcome Nick back to his hometown club.

“Nick left us as we couldn’t provide the full-time environment he wished to test himself in. He comes back with a point to prove and an opportunity to kick start his career after a tough 18 months.

“He displayed his undoubted potential in his first stint and has learnt plenty in some good environments over the last few years. He returns with more experience and adds to the competition in our back line.”
