Halifax have announced the signing of French half-back Louis Jouffret for the 2022 Championship campaign.

Louis Jouffret, 26, most recently featured for Whitehaven in the second division, playing a part in earning the side a play-off spot in the 2021 season.

The half-back featured for the Cumbrian side between 2015-16, making 35 appearances. He has also featured for Toulouse, Batley, Featherstone and SO Avignon in French Elite 1.

Jouffret will join France-born Kevin Larroyer, featured in the video above, at Halifax in 2022. Larroyer has made 14 appearances for the national side, and joined the club ahead of the 2019 season.

“I’m really pleased to be have sign for Halifax,” Jouffret shared on social media. “At least I can speak french to one player on the field this year.”

One in, one out

Meanwhile, Halifax have confirmed that Connor Robinson has left the club to take up a contract outside the Championship.

Robinson, 27,  joined the club from rivals York City Knights ahead of the 2020 season and played a regular role in the squad until an unfortunate foot injury saw him forced to the sidelines.

Ian Croad, football director said: “We would like to thank Connor for his contribution to the club and wish him well in his next move. He will always be welcome at The Shay when time allows for him to visit.”

Head coach Simon Grix added: “Connor has been a pleasure throughout a difficult year. We wish him all the best at his new club.”
