Hull KR‘s Papua New Guinea forward Makali Aizue has signed for Championship club Halifax on a two-year contract.

The prop foward, 31, signs after a 9 year stint at Craven Park, which currently sees him as the longest serving player for the Robins.

Hull KR coach Justin Morgan said: “It was a very difficult decision, especially when it was someone who has been part of the fabric of the place for so long, but players and coaches need to move on at some stage,”

Aizue joins former Hull KR coach and current Halifax director of football Martin Hall at the Shay. “Makali could probably have been playing in Super League next season if he had chosen to.” said Hall

“Fortunately, we have managed to persuade him to come and continue his career with us.”
