Hunslet stand-off Danny Grimshaw’s season could be over after just one game.

Grimshaw, 29, featured in the season opener at Featherstone but then went absent according to the club, who issued a statement last week.

In response, Grimshaw tweeted that he wasn’t absent from the club, that he had left Hunslet and the club were aware of that.

However, Hunslet have now issued a further statement saying that Grimshaw remains registered to them.

It said: “The club gave rival Championship clubs permission to speak to Grimshaw who yesterday (Tuesday) contacted the club stating he doesn’t want to play for any other club and indeed is not interested in playing at all for the rest of this season. The club will continue to support Danny and hope he rejoins the playing squad in the future.”

Grimshaw scored nine tries in 19 appearances for the Hawks in 2014, helping them win promotion to the Championship.
