Greg Inglis a good addition for Super League, says Brian Carney

Sky Sports presenter Brian Carney believes Greg Inglis will be an excellent addition not only for Warrington – but for Super League as well.

The former Australia and Queensland representative has signed a one-year deal with Warrington for the 2021 season.

Inglis retired from the game in April 2019 – but the Australian legend will lace up his boots again for the Wolves.

Carney said: “It’s a gamble when you sign any player and when they are on the other side of 30 it becomes a little heightened.

“You have to look at it from a number of different factors. Although he has had plenty of injuries, he didn’t retire with an injury.

“He has been battling some mental health issues which he has publicly spoken about and helped plenty of people in doing so.

“He has continued to get treatment for that and if Greg Inglis comes here in a good head space then I think his body would certainly hold up.

“He’s a phenomenal character, a wonderful player and a really imposing player to play against. He’s so big, so skilful and so strong.

“To have all of those attributes, I don’t believe he’ll have lost many of those when he comes to Super League.”
