A hat-trick from winger Greg Eden helped Castleford grind out a 33-26 over Hull in a thrilling match at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.

The Tigers scored with the first play of the game. A Ligi Sao error from kick-off saw Daniel Smith score, with Gareth O’Brien converting.

O’Brien then added a penalty goal to give his side an 8-0 lead inside 10 minutes.

Hull scored on the half hour mark as Andre Savelio set up hooker Danny Houghton. Ben McNamara’s conversion was successful.

Tries from Eden and Cheyse Blair edged the Tigers into an 18-6 lead in what was a strong first half display.

Josh Griffin pulled one back for Hull just before half-time following a mistake from Derrell Olpherts. McNamara converted but Hull were still 18-12 behind at the break.
