Greg Bird rules England out of Four Nations final

Australia loose forward Greg Bird does not think that England will be playing in the Four Nations final this year.

England opened their campaign with a 32-26 win over an aggressive and vibrant Samoa side. Australia lost 30-12 to New Zealand.

But Bird appears to think that the Kiwis will be Australia‘s opponents in the competition’s final, with England and Samoa ruled out of contention entirely.

“We were aware of what they [New Zealand] were going to bring [on Saturday], it’s not like they surprised us with anything they were doing, it’s just that we weren’t up to it,” Bird said.

“There were a lot of areas I think we can work on specifically to counter the Kiwis.

“We’ve got a couple of games before we have to come up against them again obviously, but I’m confident we can knock them off.”
