Greenshields suspended after tweets

Catalan have stood down full-back Clint Greenshields following comments he made on Twitter about referee Ben Thaler last week.

Greenshields, 30, will not play for the Dragons in their Challenge Cup tie with Sheffield this weekend, and was also suspended for three days of training this week.

He described referee Thaler as “retarded” as he watched the Dragons lose 34-18 to Leeds last Friday night.

The club will be hoping that their action, which also included a fine of £1,635 (2000 euros), will put an end to the matter, after it had previously been referred to the RFL’s compliance department.
