Green surprised by Wigan victory over Giants
Blake Green has admitted that he was surprised Wigan’s margin of victory over Huddersfield last week.
The Warriors destroyed the Giants 57-4 in the first play-off elimination game, a tally of points which Green admits was unexpected.
“I’m not going to lie to you, I didn’t expect that result on Thursday,” he wrote, in his regular blog for Wigan’s official website.
“I think a strong 80 minute performance has been coming from the lads for a couple of weeks now, we were good in the first half against Leeds and red hot in the second half against Warrington.
“Even so, I am still shocked at how many points we racked up. It wasn’t Huddersfield’s best performance, I think our intensity – especially in defence, was what did it.”
Green and his team-mates are now waiting to see who they will face in the next round, with Saints set to make the ‘clubcall’ soon.
“The win moves us onto the semis but we’re not sure who we are playing just yet,” Green added.
“Saints have the clubcall and although some people might say they don’t want it I think you’d be foolish not to!
“It’ll be interesting to see which way Saints choose, normally people try to justify their decision by saying they’ve chosen the lowest placed team so we shall see if that is the case this time.”
