Green back in full training with Wigan
Wigan stand-off Blake Green has confirmed that he is back in full training with the first team, and is keen to put his injury troubles behind him.
The Australian was out of action with a ruptured bicep, and has been missing from Wigan’s first team for almost three months.
“I’m glad to report that I am now back in full training with the main squad,” he wrote in his blog on his club’s official website.
“It’s been a long 11 weeks doing the recovery on my ruptured bicep but I got the all clear off the Doc last week and it’s time to get stuck in now.
“As a player there really isn’t anything worse than picking up an injury and having to just wait for it to heal, I wouldn’t wish an injury on anyone as it’s tough to turn up to the training ground and have to train separately and have extensive physio sessions all the time.”
Joel Tomkins has also made his first-team comeback with the Warriors, playing in their win over Salford last week.
The back rower’s return from rugby union has boosted everyone at the club, according to Green.
“Another player we’ve had comeback in recent weeks is Joel Tomkins who made his second debut for the club last week against Salford,” the stand-off added.
“He’s settled back in great here and it looks like he’s never been away from rugby league.
“It’s a big shot in the arm for us to add a player like that to the ranks at this stage of the season and when he gets a bit more game time I think we will really see what he can do.”
