Great Britain return on the cards

RFL chief executive Nigel Wood hopes to see the return of Great Britain in the next five years.

Great Britain last played as a team in 2007. There have been reports that a Kangaroo tour could take place in 2019 or 2020 in the UK, with Australia facing GB.

Wood said there have been talks about Great Britain making a comeback before the 2021 World Cup.

“Great Britain is part of the discussions about the game going forward, whether there will be tours to Australia or New Zealand or home tours,” he said.

“They are attractive propositions. I’ll be disappointed if by the end of the next international cycle I didn’t have some news on that.”
