Gould denies Wallace will make Super League switch

Penrith Panthers boss Phil Gould has denied that halfback Peter Wallace is set to make a move to Super League in the new year.

The Australian newspaper revealed today that Wallace was close to sealing a deal to come to England.

But Gould has tweeted that the story is incorrect.

“Media report suggesting Peter Wallace leaving for UK prior to commencement of 2016 season are totally incorrect and without basis,” he tweeted.

“The Australian newspaper journalist call me yesterday and I informed him the story was incorrect. He wrote it anyway.”

Anthony Griffin’s arrival as Penrith coach could see Wallace depart, as the playmaker left Brisbane when Griffin was in charge there after the pair had a falling out.

Love Rugby League revealed back in October that the 30-year old playmaker could switch to Super League.

A Scottish international, Wallace has played for NSW four times and has made 186 NRL apperances.

The scrum-half debuted for the Panthers in 2005, moved to the Broncos in 2008 and then returned to the foot of the mountains in 2014.
