Penrith have given themselves a boost by re-signing prolific points-scorer Michael Gordon for the next two seasons.

Gordon, 26, has amassed a colossal 616 points for the Panthers since joining the club in 2006 and establishing himself as the first choice goal kicker.

And club CEO Mick Leary says he hopes Gordon will continue to serve the Panthers in the same vein during the 2011 and 2012 seasons.

“We are certainly pleased with keeping Michael at the club,” Leary said.

“He has progressed very well since making his debut in 2006 and was deservedly rewarded with selection in the third Origin game this year.

“It’s a good time to stay with the club too; we have locked away a number of key positions and Michael was another one of those integral parts to the team. With the group of players we have, the future of the club is looking particularly bright.”

Affectionately known as “Flash”, Gordon is the NRL’s leading point scorer on 164 points from 8 tries and 66 goals. He currently has 80% accuracy kicking 66 goals from 82 attempts.
