Gloucestershire All Golds celebrated their 100th competitive game with a 30-22 win at Workington which puts them in to the semi-finals of the League 1 Cup.

Phil Cowburn’s late try, his second of the game, sealed a credible victory for the All Golds, who had suffered league defeat at the hands of the same opposition last weekend.

The visitors led 18-6 at half time, before Workington clawed their way back in to the game to lead 22-18 going in to the final quarter.

All Golds coach, Lee Greenwood, said: “We fully deserved the win this week. Nobody could argue with the result.

“We were good for 60 minutes last week and it was close to that point again this week but we were better in those 60 minutes today. When they scored three in a row our character was totally different. We crumbled last week but this week we got stuck in, the attitude was good and we were competitive despite not seeing much of the ball.”

It is four years since the All Golds joined the competitive ranks with a game against Hemel Stags in March 2013.

They have won 37 of their 100 matches since, drawing one.
