Gildart full of hometown pride

Wigan youngster Oliver Gildart is relishing the chance to represent the Warriors in Saturday’s Grand Final against Leeds at Old Trafford.

Gildart has the Wigan club in his blood, being the son of former player Ian Gildart, and a product of the Warriors youth set-up.

“I am really grateful to the club for this opportunity,” he told the Warriors’ official website.

“At the start of the year Shaun Wane told me to work hard and keep my head down and he would give me a chance.

“He has done that and I am happy that he has kept faith in me. I wouldn’t be where I am but for the club and the terrific academy they have here.

“I know that I am up against a very good Leeds back-line, I am confident in my own ability and that of my teammates.

“It will be a proud day for me and my family, I just can’t wait to get out there and do them and the town proud.”
