Giants spring surprise at Leeds

Huddersfield stunned high-flying Leeds at Headingley Carnegie with an impressive 31-12 victory on Thursday.

Tries from Jake Mamo, Kruise Leeming, Dale Ferguson, Darnell McIntosh and Ollie Roberts ended the Giants’ eight game winless run in Super League and moved them up to tenth in the table.

Matt Parcell and Joel Moon bagged first-half tries for Leeds, who missed the opportunity to move above Castleford at the top of the standings.

Danny Brough (above) returned to the Giants’ line-up after suspension, making his mark with some accurate kicking to relieve some of the pressure on head coach Rick Stone.

Leeds: Walker, Briscoe, Watkins, Handley, Hall, McGuire, Moon, Galloway, Parcell, Mullally, Jones-Buchanan, Delaney, Cuthbertson.

Replacements: Burrow, Ward, Singleton, Garbutt.

Huddersfield: Mamo, McGillvary, Mellor, Murphy, McIntosh, Brough, S. Wood, Ikahihifo, Leeming, Wakeman, Roberts, Ferguson, Hinchcliffe.

Replacements: Clough, Smith, English, O’Brien.
