Giants confirm 11 academy signings

Huddersfield Giants have confirmed that 11 players have been offered part-time, professional contracts with their academy for 2017.

Ten of the eleven signings were part of the Huddersfield Giants Scholarship programme and seven of these players are from within the Kirklees area.

All the players were presented to the crowd ahead of the Giants’ game with Leeds at the weekend, as a way of marking their achievement.

“It was a celebration not only for the players but their parents as well,” said Giants player performance manager Steve Hardisty

They are obviously their biggest support network ferrying them around and sorting all logistics to help them get to the position they are in now in regards to signing a part time professional contract at the Huddersfield Giants.

“It is a recognition of their efforts as players and at the same time I think it will be recognition of all the hard work of the volunteers from the community clubs as well. Their respective community clubs have the players for far more time than we do in a week and they lay the foundations to help them achieve their potential.

“It was a really proud moment to go onto the field to be introduced to the Giants fans as the next generation of the club and we are really looking forward to working with them on a daily basis and see how much improvement they have in them as Giants Academy Players.”
