Gentle pleased with defensive effort

Hull coach Peter Gentle was delighted with his side’s defensive effort as they crushed Bradford 46-6 in Lee Radford‘s Testimonial on Sunday.

Kirk Yeaman scored a hat-trick and new signing Wade McKinnon scored twice, but Gentle has more impressed by the defensive steel on show.

He told the club’s official website: “We had a big emphasis on our defence this week and that was our focus going into today’s game.

“We know we can score points, but the trick to being a good team is to stop other teams posting them at the other end.

“To just concede one try was a big effort from us and we are pleased with that going into the new season.”

Hull get their Super League campaign underway on Sunday when they host Warrington at the KC Stadium.
