Stanley Gene has won his case against Halifax, after the Yorkshire club terminated his contract earlier this season.

The Papua New Guinea legend moved to The Shay from Hull KR at the start of the season on a two-year deal, but it was cut short on July 13th after a breach of contract, according to the club.

However, an RFL Operational Rules Tribunal has found in favour of the player, who is now expected to join French club Villeneuve.

An RFL statement said: “The tribunal ruled that Halifax had not followed the correct procedures relating to the RFL’s standard contract for part-time players and ordered Halifax to compensate Gene for the remaining five months of the first year of his two-year contract.”
