Gateshead to play selected home games at Blaydon RFC

Gateshead are to play several of their home games at Blaydon RFC due to the ongoing pitch problems at the Gateshead International Stadium.

Thunder were forced to play their first home game of the season, against North Wales Crusaders, at Hull KR‘s Craven Park earlier this month.

But they have now sorted an arrangement to play at least three games at Blaydon, including this Sunday’s Northern Rail Cup clash against Gloucestershire All Golds.

Managing Director Keith Christie said: “After nearly a month of looking for a venue in the North East, I am delighted to announce that we will be playing in the borough of Gateshead at Blaydon RFC.”

“Blaydon RFU have kindly agreed that we can use their pitch and it is a great club with envious facilities.”

“Subject to it passing the RFL inspection, Blaydon will be great for players, fans and sponsors alike.”

The other confirmed games to have moved include the Championship 1 clash against the All Golds on May 5th, and the game against South Wales Scorpions on May 12th.
