Gateshead have parted company with Head Coach Richard Pell by mutual consent after little more than six months in charge.

Thunder are rooted to the bottom of Championship 1 with just one draw from their eight games so far this season.

Director of Rugby Chris Hood said: “On behalf of the board of Directors and everyone at the club, we would like to thank Richard for his hard work and determination throughout his time with Gateshead Thunder.”

“We are now over half way through the season and the results haven’t been in best interests for both parties and therefore we have agreed to part ways by mutual consent.”

“I must put on record that Richard has played an important part in the re-building of our club and that he and his family will always be welcome at Gateshead Thunder, and we wish him all the best for the future.”

Pell joined the club in November 2010 from his previous role as an academy coach at Castleford.

He said: “I would like to thank Gateshead Thunder for the opportunity and wish them all the best for the future.”

Assistant Coach Tim Rumford will take charge of first team matters for Thunder’s forthcoming fixture this Sunday 22nd May (1.00pm Kick Off) against South Wales Scorpions.
