Galea out for three months

Hull KR have confirmed that captain Ben Galea could be out for up to three months after suffering medial knee ligament damage in the friendly win over Hull at the weekend.

The 36-18 win came at a cost for the Robins, who have also lost young front rower Richard Beaumont with a fractured fibula.

Head Coach Craig Sandercock told the club’s official website: “Losing Benny and Rich is a blow. Benny is looking at being out for between 8-12 weeks which is disappointing for both himself and the team.

“But the one thing we know about Benny is that he’s the consummate professional and he’ll be doing everything he can, in tandem with the medical department, to get himself back on the paddock as soon as he can.

“As regards Rich, he has a fractured leg and the medical team are looking into the treatment options.”

Sandercock confirmed that scrum-half Michael Dobson will lead the team in Galea’s absence.
