Gale gutted to miss out with England

Castleford scrum-half Luke Gale has acknowledged how disappointed he was to not be picked by England to face New Zealand in the autumn Test series.

England won the series 2-1, but George Williams of Wigan played at 7 for the first two games, before being replaced by his club-mate Matty Smith for the third game.

“I was gutted not to pull on the shirt, but that was Steve McNamara’s call and he chose not to pick me,” Gale told the Pontefract and Castleford Express.

“That disappointment won’t stop me from playing my best for the Tigers in 2016.

“After that I can then look to claiming that number seven jersey for the Four Nations.

“I’ve got to play consistency for Castleford in the league and then I can put my hand up and clinch a spot in that team.”
