Gale close to Bradford return

Bradford scrum-half Luke Gale could make his return to action this weekend against former club London Broncos.

Gale, 24, has not featured yet this year having undergone ankle surgery during the off-season.

His place on the treatment table could be filled by Jamie Foster (ankle) and John Bateman (groin), who both picked up knocks in the win over Salford on Monday.

Coach Francis Cummins said: “Luke’s back in full training now, so we’ll see what happens with selection and where he is this week.

“He’s currently training with the Under-19s – he trained this morning with them and will be with them again tomorrow.

“He might be available for this weekend but we’ve got to see how the team stacks up and how the injuries to Jamie Foster and John Bateman progress.”

Gale made more than 70 appearances for Harlequins, as they were then known, between 2009 and 2011.

He came through the academy at Leeds, before catching the eye in Doncaster’s National League 2 winning campaign in 2008.
