Gale believes Tigers are still trophy contenders

Luke Gale insists that Castleford’s recent run of result does not make them into a bad team, and says that the club are still trophy contenders.

The Tigers halfback is into his second season with the club and was one of the main reasons behind a successful 2015 season, and was unlucky not to be selected for the England internationals at the end of the year.

However, the club is now on a three game losing streak, but Gale believes that the current run of form is just a blip that can be turned around.

“All teams have them. Leeds are Grand Final winners and they’ve been struggling,” Gale told the Pontefract and Castleford Express.

“The best teams bounce back from them so that’s what we’ll be looking to do. You can’t throw the towel in after one poor performance. We still believe we are good enough.

“Against Saints we were one try off. Against Salford we were disappointed with ourselves. We thought we were the best team, but we did some stupid things – myself included.

“Last week it was a really poor start, it was just one of those games. You can’t really put one finger on it, but I do know we’ve worked hard this week. We’re only had one really poor performance.”
