Doncaster’s Mick Butterfield, Mike Kelly and Lee Waterman are the latest players at the club to sign new contracts for next season.

Full-back Butterfield has been at the club since 2010 and has made over 60 appearances for the Dons since joining from Normanton Knights.

Doncaster born Kelly and Waterman, the second holds the Dons record for the most tries in a season, both joined the club in 2012 and have played big parts in the club’s recent run of form.

Current head coach Tony Miller said: “All three players have played their part to get us in to a play-off spot and I’m really happy they’re staying at the club.

“Butterfield is a solid full back who carries the ball well and Lee can score a try from nothing and his try scoring record for the club is unbelievable (48 tries from 49 games).

“Mike has been getting better and better all season and has been one of our stand-out players.

“I’ve been really impressed with his development since he joined the club last season.”

Paul Cooke, who will replace Miller as the Dons head coach in the Championship next season, said: “I’m really pleased to have the services of these three players again next year and they all have a big future at the club.

“We’ve now signed nine players from this season’s squad and these players have proved to Tony (Miller) and myself that they’re more than capable of playing at this standard of rugby in the Championship.”

They join Kyle Kesik, Mike Emmett, Mark Castle, Matt Carbutt, Brett Waller and Russ Spiers who have all agreed to stay at the Dons for at least another year.
