Furner names strong Raiders line up

Canberra coach David Furner has named a strong team to face Canterbury in the Raiders’ final trial match on Saturday.

Terry Campese, Josh Dugan and Blake Ferguson will all take part in the match at Wagga Wagga, ahead of their NRL opening round clash against Melbourne.

David Shillington returns to Raiders colours after recovering from an elbow problem but Tom Learoyd-Lahrs is being rested.

The only injury doubt is winger Jarrod Croker who is struggling with a knee problem.

However, assistant coach Andrew McFadden is confident Croker will recover in time for the match up with the Bulldogs.

“Jarrod looks pretty positive to play this weekend, he got through the training session today and providing he gets through tomorrow night’s session he’ll be fine to take his place,” McFadden said.

Establishing some partnerships before they meet the Storm on March 3 is also an important element for the clash according to McFadden.

“We’ll probably play most of the game with our starting two halves, but we have Sam Williams there at the moment and he’ll probably have some game time. It just depends on how the game is going too whether we decide on giving Campo (Terry Campese) and early rest,” he said.

“Both teams will have their best teams on the park and I think it’s important for us this weekend to have a really good performance leading into round one.”
