Full strength Keighley ready for Haven

Keighley Cougars coach Jason Demetriou has a full-strength squad to pick from for tomorrow’s Co-operative Championship One clash with Whitehaven.

Keighley need a comprehensive win to guarantee themselves a second-placed finish going into next week’s play-offs.

Demetriou said: “It’s very important we go into the play-offs on the back of a good result. We had a good win at London last week, and we need to back that up.

“We also haven’t beaten Whitehaven this year, so we need to get that monkey off our back.”

He added: “They’ve got some good players, and Paul King has a good second-phase game that will add to Carl Sice‘s game. Across the pitch they’ve got good strike players who can score points, and a good pack who do the little things well.”

Lewis Palfrey is available for Whitehaven as coach David Seeds attempts to plot a third win of the year against Keighley.

Seeds said: “We beat them at home, and then got a get-out-of-jail-free card at Cougar Park. Hopefully that will continue on Sunday, but both teams have got better since we last met. It should be a cracking contest.”

He continued: “Consistency is what’s going to make or break teams from now on. There’s no room for a good game and a bad game now – you’ve got to be good for the rest of the year.

“Our last game was probably our best performance of the year, and we’ve got to take that into this week. We’ve set the bar, and now we just need to keep on raising it.”
