Friday night lights at Gateshead

Gateshead are hoping to welcome Super League supporters back to the North East, ten years since their top flight adventure.

Thunder host Doncaster tonight at 7.30pm hoping to attract fans travelling up to Edinburgh for the Magic Weekend at Murrayfield.

Gateshead Thunder Chief Executive Rod Findlay said: “It would be great to see fans of engage Super League clubs returning to the Gateshead International Stadium for our clash with Doncaster on Friday night.

“I’m sure many of them will have fond memories of visiting the stadium when we were in Super League 10 years ago and we are ideally placed for supporters looking to break up their journey and stay over in the North East on Friday night.”

Gateshead will be looking for a massive performance after a disappointing defeat to league leaders Halifax last week but having already overcome Doncaster in the Carnegie Challenge Cup this season Thunder will know exactly what to expect under the Friday night lights.

In the past two years, Celtic Crusaders have attracted large crowds for Friday night matches before the Millennium Magic weekend.
