France’s Catalan contingent up to 16

Catalan pair Damien Cardace and Benjamin Garcia have been called up to the France World Cup squad due to injuries.

Their inclusion takes the Dragons’ contingent to 16 of the 24 players, following the withdrawals of Mathias Pala and Clement Soubeyras.

The squad includes Salford half-back Theo Fages, as well as North Queensland Cowboys full-back Clint Greenshields, who qualified to play for France through residency during his time playing for the Catalan club.

The other six players all have Super League experience, but are all currently playing in the French Elite League.

Full squad: Jean-Philippe Baile, William Barthau, Thomas Bosc, Damien Cardace, Rémi Casty, Vincent Duport, Olivier Elima, Morgan Escare, Jamal Fakir, Benjamin Garcia, Kévin Larroyer, Antoni Maria, Grégory Mounis, Eloi Pélissier, Mickael Simon, Frédéric Vaccari (all Catalans Dragons), Andrew Bentley, Kane Bentley (Toulouse), Younès Khattabi (Carcassonne), Cyril Stacul (Lézignan), Sébastien Raguin (Saint-Estève-XIII Catalan), Tony Gigot (Avignon), Clint Greenshields (North Queensland Cowboys), Théo Fagès (Salford City Reds).
