FOX to show Super League in USA

The RFL is pleased to announce that American television network FOX Soccer Plus have agreed a deal that will see the Stobart Super League, Carnegie Challenge Cup and the World Club Challenge broadcast to viewers in the United States until the end of 2014.

FOX Soccer Plus, which is part of the FOX Sports Media Group, will begin broadcasting Rugby League this weekend when the Stobart Super League match between Huddersfield Giants and Castleford Tigers will be screened live to more than 40 million cable and satellite households across America.

“We’re delighted to welcome FOX Soccer Plus on board as the latest international broadcasting partner for Rugby League,” said RFL Chief Executive Nigel Wood.

“Rugby League has continued to reinforced its position as the world’s most entertaining sport in 2012 and it is a great boost to see such interest in the game coming through from the American market.

“I feel confident this partnership will help the sport grow over the coming years.”

FOX have become the latest international broadcaster to commit to broadcasting Rugby League, joining New Zealand based Maori TV, Showtime Arabia Television in the Middle East and Canadian network Sportsnet, while discussions are also still on-going to secure a new partner for the Australian market.
