Fox fighting for future at Fax

Halifax winger Peter Fox is enjoying himself in the Championship, and is playing for a new contract at the club.

Fox joined Fax from Wakefield Wildcats in May, and is loving life in a high-quality league he feels is often overlooked.

“I’m just enjoying my rugby, simple as that,” he told Love Rugby League.

“Hopefully I’ll re-sign another contract next year. I’m playing for my contract now, so my main thing is being happy and enjoying my rugby, and that’s what’s happening now.”

Halifax continued a good run of form by convincingly beating Sheffield Eagles 32-14 at Owlerton on Sunday, the team’s third consecutive victory.

“I’m extremely happy. Obviously Sheffield have been champions for two years, and we wanted to beat them today,” he said.

“We’ve got a few wins under our belt now, we’ve got some momentum going into the last bit of the season.

“I’m really pleased.”

Fox is also relishing playing behind a powerful Halifax pack, as well as his old Hull KR mate Scott Murrell, who is having a fine season in the halves for Fax.

Fox bagged a brace of tries in the game at Sheffield, with one coming from a Murrell kick to his wing.

“There’s some big, strong, physical lads in this league. I think people overlook this league, there’s some real talent in it,” Fox added.

“It’s great, and credit to our forwards today, I thought they really took it to this team.

“With it being a short pitch you expect your forwards to come up trumps and they did.

“I remember Scotty in one of the games for Hull KR, I think it was Catalans away, he gave me one of them kicks.

“Me and Scotty know how each other play, so it’s really good for him to be on the pitch.”
