Four players charged

The RFL have confirmed that four players are facing disciplinary charges after the weekend’s fixtures.

Anthony Bate of Barrow Raiders has been charged with Grade E contrary behaviour in an incident which followed his dismissal in the League 1 fixture at York City Knights played on Sunday September 13.

Josh Griffin of Salford Red Devils and Widnes Vikings player Kevin Brown have been charged with Grade A punching in the Qualifiers fixture played on Sunday September 20.

Dewsbury Rams player Joel Farrell has been charged with Grade A striking with the knees in the Championship Shield Super 8s fixture against Workington Town played on Sunday September 20.

Griffin, Brown and Farrell have until 11am on Tuesday (September 22) to submit Early Guilty Pleas. Bate does not have the option of submitting an EGP and will appear before an independent disciplinary tribunal on Tuesday evening.

All four players were charged after the incidents were viewed by the RFL Match Review Panel, which also issued formal cautions to the following players:

Bob Beswick (Leigh Centurions) – dangerous contact on Matty Blythe of Bradford Bulls in the 20th minute

Adam Higson (Leigh) – striking Adam O’Brien of Bradford with his knees in the 11th minute

Benjamin Garcia (Catalans Dragons) – making a dangerous throw on Ashton Sims of Warrington Wolves in the 58th minute

John Boudebza (Hull KR) – use of the knees on Eddie Battye of Sheffield Eagles in the sixth minute

Sean O’Loughlin (Wigan Warriors) making a dangerous throw on Louie McCarthy-Scarsbrook of St Helens in the ninth minute

Mark Percival (St Helens) – tripping Oliver Gildart of Wigan in the 37th minute.
