Melbourne have added Fijian winger Sisa Waqa to their squad for the 2011 season after he impressed during pre-season.

The 24-year-old initially joined the Storm on a three-month contract but has now agreed a deal until the end of the season.

Melbourne coach Craig Bellamy believes the signing of Waqa will boost the club’s backline options.

“The club is pleased to have signed Sisa and he will add another dimension to the team with his outstanding strength and speed,” he said.

“Whilst we are very pleased with the quality of our outside backs we feel Sisa will add further depth and strengthen our options over the season.

“His performances and attitude during pre-season training has been consistent and pleasing.”

Waqa made seven NRL appearances for Sydney Roosters in 2009 after switching from rugby union.
