Former Hull coach Peter Gentle has been named assistant coach of NRL side South Sydney Rabbitohs.

Gentle, 51, spent two seasons with the Airlie Birds in 2012/13, and has spent the past four seasons as assistant to Brad Arthur at Parramatta.

He will move to Souths to assist new head coach, Anthony Seibold.

Seibold said: “Peter is a very experienced coach that has had success with a number of organisations and they’re the sorts of people we want around our Club.

“He’s worked under good coaches like Tim Sheens and Brad Arthur, took Hull FC to a Challenge Cup Final in the UK Super League and was an Assistant Coach with the Kangaroos alongside Dave Furner.”
