Widnes winger Paddy Flynn has joined Castleford on loan for the rest of the 2016 season.

The winger joins the Tigers on loan from Widnes, having only appeared in one game during the 2016 season so far, playing in the Challenge Cup victory over Rochdale.

During 2014 and 2015 the 28-year old had been a regular fixture in the Vikings side, grabbing 10 tries in 2015 and 19 during 2014.

The winger is a Thatto Heath product who made his debut for Widnes back in 2008.

“I’m really happy about the loan deal,” he said.

“I’ve always been a fan of Daryl and the way his teams play. Even when Powell was the Featherstone coach when Widnes were in the Championship I always thought they were tough to beat and well organized and that’s always down to a good coach.

“On that note I can’t wait to get started and rip in.”

Castleford Tigers head coach Daryl Powell is delighted to add strength to his squad.

Paddy Flynn comes to us at a crucial period of the season,” he said.

“Whenever he has played against us he has had a strong influence on the game, he is a tough defender and carries the ball very strongly in all areas of the field.

“I’m confident he will add depth and quality to our back line as we look to strengthen our game in what is going to be a really tough block of games.”

Steve Gill, Tigers CEO, has welcomed the new addition: “Bringing Paddy in has given us some real competition for places in the outside backs, although Paddy is cup tied he will be available to play in all our league games, and we look forward to him turning out in our famous colours.”
