Chris Flannery has committed his future to St Helens after signing a new contract extension which will keep him at the club until the end of 2012.

The former Australian State of Origin back rower joined Saints in 2007 and has made 107 appearances for the club, scoring 35 tries.

Commenting on the deal, Flannery stated “I have spent a great four years at the Saints and I’m very happy to be adding another season, particularly as the club will be moving into its own fabulous new stadium.”

Saints Head Coach Royce Simmons added “Chris is a seasoned and proven professional and adds both substance and versatility to the squad. It’s good news for all that he’s committed for a further season.”

Club Chairman Eamonn McManus said “Chris is a great clubman as well as team member. He sets a great example, in terms of responsibility, attitude and commitment, to our younger players and is a key personality in the squad.”
