Five sign up to West Wales for 2019

West Wales have confirmed five signings for the 2019 season.

The Raiders have signed promising Welsh hooker Liam Rice-Wilson for next term. He was called up to the Wales squad for their European Championship campaign recently, but didn’t make an appearance for the Dragons.

Rice-Wilson played for League 1 rivals Coventry Bears last season and has also represented Wales at the Student World Cup and in the Under-23 Commonwealth 9s, which was played in Australia.

On signing Rice-Wilson, Raiders’ coach Kim Williams said: “Liam is a good young player who can continue to develop over the next few years with our club.

“He covers the key positions of hooker and half and is also a high quality young man with a great attitude. I am very pleased to have him on board.”

The Raiders have also signed utility-man Jack O’Brien from Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade for next season.

O’Brien will provide plenty of versatility as he can play at loose forward, back-row, centre or half-back.

The Raiders have handed new deals to young promising forwards as they continue to bolster their pack for next year. Connor Parker, Harry Boots and Nye Walker have all agreed to stay at Stebonheath Park for 2019.

Williams commented: “These guys can form the nucleus of our club for years to come.

“They are all young players with lots of potential who stuck by the club through the tough times last year.

“They are also great people off the field and I am looking forward to helping them develop across the course of the next few years.”
