Brett Finch has announced his decision to retire at the end of the season.

Finch, 32, will take on a role in the media with the Nine Network from 2014.

The stand-off made his debut as a 17-year-old for his first NRL club – Canberra.

After time in Sydney, with the Roosters, he moved to Parramatta, and then in 2009 had his first spell with Melbourne.

Then, after spending two years in England with Wigan, Finch returned to Storm, but he has only made 2 appearances so far this season.

The former New South Wales representative had this to say:

“The time has come for me to enter a new phase of my life.

“I’ve had a great run and I just know the time is right.

“Rugby league has been very good to me and I feel very lucky to have enjoyed such a long and enjoyable career.”
