Fev expecting tight affair

Featherstone coach John Sharp says he is preparing for a close game against Dewsbury on Sunday that could be decided by a drop goal.

Fev travel to face the Rams on Sunday. Rovers beat London 42-18 at home last weekend, which Sharp felt was their best performance of the season.

“It was a great win against a really good team,” he said.

“London are second in the table on merit and have earned the right to be up there. We had to come up with our best performance to beat them and fortunately it’s the best we’ve played this year and it’s the strongest team I’ve been able to pick.

“I’m really pleased, it was a really good day for everyone. Dewsbury v Featherstone games are always really tight affairs and we’re not expecting this to be any different.

“It could go down to a drop goal or the odd point here and there, we’re ready for that and expecting it.”

Dewsbury won 36-16 at Whitehaven last week.

“It was a must-win game for both teams,” Coach Glenn Morrison said.

To go up there is always tough. It was tight for a lot of the game but the scoreline reflected the game and we deserved it.

“Featherstone have put a good squad together and have added to that with a couple of Super League loans, which is helping them.

“We know it’s going to be a tough one but hopefully we’re getting a few players back now and can have a push of our own.”
