Ferres feeling confident ahead of England’s Third Test decider

Huddersfield back rower Brett Ferres believes that England have what it takes to beat New Zealand at Wigan on Saturday, and claim the Test series 2-1.

The Kiwis won 9-2 in London at the weekend, tying the series up. Ferres is spurred on by the chance to take immediate revenge for that loss, rather than having to wait a year to play New Zealand again.

“Obviously we’re in a fortunate position now where we don’t have to wait a year to play them again,” he said, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“We can roll our sleeves up and go again this week. We’re certainly in a confident mood and we proved in week one that we have enough in our arsenal to beat this team so it’s just about replicating that again.”

Ferres himself has endured a somewhat frustrating 2015, but is glad of the chance to end the year on a high.

“It’s been a frustrating season for me, just so inconsistent – in and out of the side with injuries and a suspension,” he added.

“But Steve (McNamara) gave me this opportunity and I want to take it with both hands.”
