Huddersfield’s Brett Ferres could be banned for up to eight games for his dangerous throw on Jonny Lomax in the Challenge Cup defeat to St Helens.

Ferres, 27, has been handed a Grade E charge, which carries a suspension tariff of between four and eight games.

He was sent off for the tackle in the 65th minute as the Giants were beaten 17-16 in the fourth round at the John Smith’s Stadium, and doesn’t have the option of submitting an early guilty plea.

Also facing the RFL disciplinary tribunal on Tuesday evening are London’s Nick Slyney and Castleford’s Scott Wheeldon.

Slyney was charged with a Grade B dangerous throw on Jason Baitieri in the second minute of their game against Catalan, while Wheeldon was charged with a Grade A striking with the head offence on Batley’s Adam Gledhill.

Slyney and Wheeldon have until 11am on Tuesday to submit Early Guilty Pleas.
