Featherstone wary of London’s quality

Featherstone Rovers coach Jon Sharp is hoping that his team can take the positives from their game last weekend in to this Sunday’s clash with London.

Rovers had an impressive 44-22 win at Whitehaven last week.

“It’s a tough place to go and win. I’m really pleased with how we attacked. It was a good win, one we needed and sets up this week nicely,” said Sharp.

“London are a really good team, they are vastly improved and Andrew has done a really good job with them. I think we’ll start as underdogs but that doesn’t cause us any angst, it’s very much about us.”

London Broncos were without a game last week, which coach Andrew Henderson was pleased about.

“It was nice to have a weekend off,” he said.

“I gave the players a few days off to get away from the daily grind. There were a couple of boys with some niggles, so it was nice for them to get over those.

“We’ve had a good week of preparation leading into this game. We’re under no illusions that it’s going to be an extremely tough game at Featherstone. I really rate them, they are a very good side, a strong unit who play some good football.

“They probably had a little blip for a couple of weeks and had a lot of disruption to their team through injuries, which meant they had to re-shuffle their team but they’ve still been very competitive.

“They’ve had to do it tough but they’re back to full strength and will be very motivated to get two points this week because they’re at home and they’ve got themselves back in the four.

“We understand the challenge we face this week but for us it’s about making sure we keep delivering to our standards and building on the success we’ve had so far this season.

“We’ve got to keep taking it one step at a time. If we want to achieve our goals it’s games like these we’ve got to win.”
